What are Essential Oils?

Definition

Essential oils are natural aromatic compounds found in the seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers, and other leaves of plants. They can be both beautifully and powerfully fragrant. The potency of these plant extracts are anywhere between 50 to 70 times higher than herbs. For instance, 1 drop of oil is equivalent to 28 drops of tea.

The Good Life only uses essential oils that are indigenously grown in order to have the highest quality of oils possible. Each essential oil is sourced from its respective region. For example, the Lavender is from France, the Lemon from Italy, and Frankincense is from Oman. Drawing extracts from their natural habitat is paramount to achieving the maximum benefits and quality.

History

Essential oils have been used throughout recorded history for a wide variety of wellness applications.

Although essential oils have a well-documented history of providing medical and therapeutic benefit, in more recent years essential oils are become increasingly appreciated and are now widely used for their unique and fragrant aroma as well. In a recent study of 200 patients ranging in age from eighteen to seventy-seven were exposed to the ambient odor of orange and lavender. Statistical analysis revealed that compared to the control group, both orange and lavender aroma reduced anxiety and improved the mood of patients awaiting dental procedures. Today certified pure therapeutic grade essential oils can be found in hospitals and private practices all over the world. In addition, clinical research  is consistently being conducted to show the powerful benefits of these oils.

                                              Not all essential oils

                                                are created equal

Grade

There are a growing number of products claiming to be or to contain essential oils. They range in price and quality and are found in skin care, cosmetics, aromatherapy, and other products. However, many of these products do not use 100% pure essential oils and often use fragrant synthetic chemical substitutes to dilute or replace more expensive essential oil extracts. Furthermore, there are no current regulatory standards for the descriptive use of the “therapeutic grade” for products labeled as essential oils.

The essential oils I trust are third party tested and guaranteed to be 100% pure and natural and free of synthetic compounds or contaminates. They are subjected to rigorous mass spectrometry and gas chromatography testing to ensure extract composition and activity making them the safest and most beneficial essential oils available today.
